Green Attraction
Green Attraction is a targeted environmental certification for attractions in Denmark, and GIVSKUD ZOO - ZOOTOPIA received the environmental certification in February 2024. Green Attraction-certified attractions include museums, zoos, knowledge centers, and amusement parks. With the environmental certification, guests can find and choose to visit attractions that work with sustainability and green transition.
Who can be certified as Green Attraction?
To be certified as a Green Attraction, there are a set of criteria that the attraction must meet. Additionally, there is an application and inspection process where attractions applying for certification must be approved by a jury and subsequently checked to ensure that the criteria for the green label are met.
Who is behind Green Attraction?
Green Attraction is established based on experiences with the Green Key scheme, which primarily focuses on conference and accommodation facilities. To create a certification scheme for attractions, HORESTA, along with industry organizations and the Danish Outdoor Council, has developed Green Attraction. Included in the collaboration are the Danish Zoological Gardens & Aquariums (DAZA), the Organization of Danish Museums (ODM), the Association of Attractions in Denmark (FFD), Knowledge Pedagogical Activity Centers (VPAC), with support from Business Promotion funds.

GIVSKUD ZOO - ZOOTOPIA has for many years focused on green transition and a more sustainable operation of the park. We work with:
· Sustainable consumption to reduce CO2 emissions (LED lighting, heat pumps, ventilation systems, solar panels, etc.)
· Waste sorting
· Use of of green, organic, and seasonal products
· Phasing out of plastic in favor of sustainable alternatives
· Charging stations for electric cars
· Purchase of sustainable vehicles
· Sustainable procurement policy and use of IT
· Reduced consumption of and transition to sustainable cleaning products
· Education and events on sustainability and the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals
When you visit GIVSKUD ZOO - ZOOTOPIA, there are several things you can do to help us move towards sustainability:
· Sort your waste in the designated bins
· Use your mobile phone for your annual pass instead of a plastic card
· Show your pre-purchased ticket on your mobile phone instead of printing it
· Save water during your visit
· Avoid food waste
