Argentinosaurus means ”Argentine lizard”.
Argentinosaurus is perhaps the largest creature ever to have lived on dry land. Its immense size is almost certain to have protected it against even the larger predator dinosaurs. Only a few Argentinosaurus bones have been discovered, but these have been used to estimate its size. One of its spinal vertebrae alone was 1.6 m high!
