Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity of Kazakhstan
The Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity of Kazakhstan was founded in 2004. The organization works to ensure sustainable conservation of biodiversity by building strong partnerships, supporting local initiatives, and developing national capacity and expertise.
One focus area for the organization is, among others, Przewalski's horses. The species disappeared from Kazakhstan over 100 years ago, but now it is to return to the golden steppes. Therefore, in the coming years, 35 horses from European zoos will be reintroduced to central Kazakhstan. Givskud Zoo Nature Fund supports the project with funding for monitoring the reintroduced horses for 5 years.
GIVSKUD ZOO - ZOOTOPIA has previously, as part of European cooperation, reintroduced a Przewalski's horse in Mongolia, where it thrives and has had several foals.
