Selamatkan Yaki

Over the past 30 years, the number of Sulawesi macaques has declined by up to 90 percent, and the species is classified as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. To ensure the species' survival, the Selamatkan Yaki project has been launched. In Indonesian, Selamatkan Yaki means "Save the Yaki."

Selamatkan Yaki works on nature conservation, research, and education. Among other things, efforts are made to increase the local population's understanding and sympathy for the macaques through communication, so that people will no longer hunt the monkeys as bushmeat.

Additionally, more sustainable agriculture needs to be established so that the animals' habitats are not destroyed for the benefit of agriculture, roads, and cities.
